January 2012 Meeting
The first meeting of the new year is Tuesday, January 17.
Meetings • (0) Comments • PermalinkThe South Carolina Breakfast Club has been meeting every other Sunday since 1938. The breakfast location changes each Sunday and sometimes it’s close enough for us Georgia folk to fly in and join the fun. January 8 is one of those times—Aiken Municipal Airport, KAIK.
Part of the fun is to arrive early, watch all the airplanes land, and help judge the worst of the landings. The pilot with the worst landing is recognized after breakfast and has to sign the bouncing ball.
Potential winners have been known to back-taxi and take off rather than sign the ball!
Breakfast is served at 9:00 and you should be in line by then.
The breakfast club’s full schedule is posted at http://www.flyscbc.com

Our 2010 Christmas Party will be held at the absolute best venue ever for an aviation group - The Mighty Eighth Museum - on Friday evening, December 10th. Those of you who attended last year’s event were treated to a sumptuous meal at a great price, a fun and appropriate DJ, amazing aviation art, access to the museum floor (including the B17), unmatched camaraderie and an opportunity to meet new friends and become reacquainted with others. This year, thanks to the efforts of the good folks at LMI Aerospace, we have the same deal! The cost for the meal (same caterer) will be about the same, or depending on the number at folks who attend, even a bit less!!! There is a rumor that a FAA rep from Atlanta will be there to present one of our members with a very high honor.
We need to know how many people are going to attend pretty soon, because the caterer needs a final count by December 1st. Of course, that also means he needs money. For now, plan on each meal costing $25. If they come in less than that, we’ll refund the balance. If you plan to attend, please send an email to .(JavaScript must be enabled to view this email address) as soon as you can, but not later than November 28th, so we can lock in the catering, and the price. Then, send your check not later than December 3rd. PLEASE MAKE IT OUT TO SAVANNAH AVIATION ASSOCIATION. Mail the check to our address at PO Box 15138, Savannah, GA 31416.
As soon we know the menu, we’ll pass it along, but based on our experience of last year, it will be fantastic.

Our next meeting is Tuesday, November 16th, at Lovezzola’s Pizza on Hwy 80 in Pooler, just West of I95. We are very privileged to have Mr. Gerry Phelan, Federal Security Officer for the Savannah Airport, as well as all the airports in Central and North Georgia and Hilton Head, SC. This promises to be very interesting, especially in light of recent world security events.
Come on out and bring a friend. Mr. Phelan will go on at 7:00, but show up around 6:30 or so for a Dutch treat Italian dinner and some socializing.
